To apply the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) in diagnosing and describing some characteristics of sleeping disorder (SDr) in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The study was performed at Military Hospital 175 from January 2019 to the end of May 2022 with 104 patients, including 71 cases in the retrospective group, 33 cases in the prospective group. Using PSQI and ISI to evaluate preoperative SDr in patients with CTS. Surveying of 104 patients with CTS with an average age of 47.61 ± 9.82 years (range 28–71), including 80 female (76.92%) and 24 male (23.08%). This study showed that all patients self-rated their sleep quality in the recent month before admission to our hospital as relatively poor and very poor, with an average score PSQI is 12.78 ± 2.47 points, average ISI score is 18.74 ± 2.05 points, sleep efficiency is less than 85%, daytime life is affected from moderate to severe. The PSQI and ISI should be used as tools to assess SDr right at the first examination to comprehensively assess the clinical condition of patients with CTS, helping clinicians prescribe appropriate and effective treatment for patients with CTS.
