By using the working hypothesis of a Kerr black hole (BH), the Event Horizon Telescope was able to map M87* to the Kerr BH, and it was shown that the observed image of M87* is generally consistent with what would be expected for a Kerr black hole’s shadow. Here, it is demonstrated that M87* is not certainly a Kerr BH, but rather that it might be a Kerr naked singularity, or a BH/naked singularity with a gravitomagnetic monopole, since the alternatives to the Kerr BH cannot be ruled out.
