Digital public health has the potential to transform and revolutionize public health, but it also presents a set of new challenges for the public health workforce. This chapter examines the influence of digital technologies on the public health workforce and explores the challenges and opportunities for workforce development. It discusses factors needed to strengthen the public health workforce in the digital era, such as the role of competency-based education and interdisciplinary collaboration. A key component of the public health workforce is early career professionals.
