Introduction
摘要
This introductory book chapter briefly presents three key trends driving the so-called vending renaissance in the twenty-first century: the rise in Food Away-From-Home (FAFH) consumption, the diffusion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the growing importance of Generation Y as a consumer market. These trends underscore a shift in consumer behavior toward time-saving purchases, the integration of advanced technologies in vending machines, and the influence of tech-savvy millennials on market dynamics. The author’s professional journey in the vending industry, starting in 2010, illustrates the complexities and unique challenges of vending retail marketing. Despite limited academic resources, the author’s experience and subsequent research culminate in this comprehensive guide, aimed at filling a critical gap in vending retail literature. This book targets academics, students, instructors, and vending professionals, offering practical insights, theoretical frameworks, and real-world examples. It aims to be an indispensable resource for understanding the multifaceted nature of vending retail, its challenges, and its future directions.
