This concluding chapter will look back at the issues raised in the text and revisit the fundamental question of the place of humanity in a digitized world. How do we conceive ourselves, as humans, in relation to the technology we create? When do we perceive it as part of us or simply as a complex tool and when do we endow it with an almost mythical character? How do these instances reflect—and are reflected in—the way in which we relate to, use, and abuse technology? And what does the way technology is conceived of, built, and deployed say about us as humans, in our cultural diversity? By looking again, at the end of this path, at the triad of nature, culture, and technology, this chapter will conclude the book with a message of hope in the harmonization of those elements that can be a solid tripod for the continuation of life on Earth, as much as they can be the recipe for catastrophe. The choice is ours to make.
