Out of Sync, Out of Sound: Three of Six Improvisations on Will Alexander’s Divine Blue Light
摘要
Conceived as a radical radiophonics, “Out of Sync, Out of Sound” takes sound-shape as a language tuned out of attunement, and thus, open instead to the ways language and knowledge production are always disrupted by and irrupting into cross-frequencies and static. The result is writing composed of improvisational and citational streams of consciousness, propelled by self-conscious feedback loops. The cause was the uncertainty principle to Will’s languaging, such that his poems remained unstilled as particle and wave, both and neither, such that I had to read them from somewhere (nowhere) not in between. The essay is three of six improvisatory attempts at attending to static, at relating, relaying a sound not yet speech, a sound not quite sound, an uhm hum, mhmm, or perhaps the inaudibility these inarticulate sounds resonate with.
