Algorithms, Polarization, and the Digital Age: A Literature Review
摘要
This chapter reviews the extensive literature on confirmation bias, digital echo chambers, and the role of algorithms in selectively exposing users to information. It discusses the reinforcement of cognitive biases through social media platforms, focusing on the role of artificial intelligence in curating content that aligns with users’ preexisting beliefs. Key case studies, including the #BlackLivesMatter movement, illustrate the real-world impact of these phenomena. The chapter concludes by identifying gaps in the literature, such as the limited exploration of temporal dynamics and active content creation, which the study aims to address.
