The article examines the ecological footprint as a key indicator of the standard of living and its influence on the formation of sustainable development policy. Analyzing data from the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), high-scoring countries such as Canada, Australia and Luxembourg demonstrate successful environmental policy strategies. The use of correlation analysis confirms that the growth of the gross domestic product and the level of human development is closely related to the increase of the ecological footprint. At the same time, the results show that health care costs have a slight negative impact on the ecological footprint, which emphasizes the importance of an integrated approach in assessing environmental indicators.
