This study is based on a qualitative and narrative approachNarrative approach, using unstructured, in-depth narrative interviews to collect data and explore participants’ career transition experiences. It employed content and narrative analysis methods, inspired by Bardin’s (Edições 70, 2006) model. Narrative interviews were conducted with seven individuals with higher education, and the motivations, challenges, and impacts of career transitionsCareer transitions on personal and professional development were analyzed. The study's results reveal the crucial role of support networks, reskilling and the redefinition of professional identity for successful transitions. Additionally, participants faced emotional, social and organizational challenges during the transition process but also identified opportunities for personal development, growth and professional fulfillment. It is concluded that these transitions are not merely moments of instability but significant opportunities for reinvention and development, both for individuals and organizations.
