Niger and Terrorism Landscape in the Sahel
摘要
The chapter examines the threats of terrorism in Niger and the interplay of variables that sustain the country’s vulnerability to terrorism and violent extremism. It specifically identifies the various terrorist groups operating in Niger, and scrutinises the responses to curbing terrorism from the national, regional and international perspectives. Ultimately, the chapter comes to the realisation that while there has been some concerted effort at the dealing with the issue of terrorism in not only Niger, but also in the Sahel generally, the socio-political fissures in the Nigerien society have prevented the complete eradication of terrorism.
