What emerged as terrorism in Central Africa region is the logical consequence of resistance to entrenched political dynasties ruling countries in the region as well as the interplay of cross-regional security dynamics in an era of global terrorism orchestrated by radicalized extremists within and across international boundaries. The existence of fragile states with compromised institutions of law and order provides enabling environment for terrorism to thrive in the region. These vulnerabilities are deepened by the existence of often neglected, very porous, under-patrolled borders and under-governed spaces that provide sanctuaries for armed groups engaged in acts of terrorism against the states. It notes that terrorism in the Central African region could be curtailed through deliberate national policies of enlightened political inclusion, effective governance, and counterterrorism cooperation at bilateral and multilateral platforms within and beyond the region. On a methodological note, this chapter relied significantly on tertiary sources as well as some of my previous works published elsewhere.
