Rocky II: Venus
摘要
Location, location, location. When choosing your next house, go carefully. And remember that things can change. Venus may once have been in the Solar System’s habitable zone, but that was a long time ago when the planet received less heating from the Sun. Now, the region of space where temperature is suitable for life has retreated outwards, fortunately leaving the Earth still inside the solar comfort zone. Venus is now too close to the Sun, and it would be too hot, whatever other changes might happen. Changes did indeed happen, creating an atmosphere rich in carbon dioxide, CO2. We all know by now, from the Earth’s changing temperature, what that gas can do. It did it to Venus, big time. The hot and poisonous atmosphere provides an example of just how life-unfriendly a place can be. It’s a location to avoid—real estate that’s not going to experience a boom in value any time soon.
