The objective of this study is to examine the effect of environmental management on sustainable performance with special reference to the mediating impact of supply chain integration. As competitive pressures force more and more organizations to pay attention to environmental management issues, it becomes important to find out how specific environmental management practices impact on organizational performance. The present research adopts a quantitative research paradigm with the data sourced from 208 respondents in the construction sector of UAE, and the analysis done with the help of SmartPLS. This study focuses on how sustainability performance is influenced by such practices as waste management, energy management and strategic sourcing. One of the primary research points of this study is supply chain integration that is expected to act as a mediator between environmental management and sustainability performance. They found environmental management practices as having significant effect on the supply chain integration while again the supply chain integration is found to have positive relationship with the sustainability performance. Particularly, the findings show that sound EM practices result in better supply chain coordination for better sustainability performances. Realization of best sustainability performance, therefore, calls for the incorporation of environmental management practices in the supply chain as revealed by the study. Thus, stressing out the role of supply chain integration this research has outlined the useful recommendations for the organizations interested in improving their environmental initiatives and increasing the effectiveness of sustainable advancements.
