The analysis of the phenomenon of trust is most often used in the commonly understood sense of the word, meaning it in a socio-psychological aspect. This paper examines specifically institutional trust. It relates to norms of organizational ethics. A distinction is made between social trust and institutional trust. Trust and mistrust are clarified through an interpretation of the so-called Cassandra metaphor. Can culture of trust be built in institution against a background of general social culture of distrust? This is the question to discuss in the text. It is argued that trust should be key part of general moral education, presented in a way explaining cultural nuances among faith, doubt and conviction. Giving meaning of existence of institutions is the condition for trusting or mistrusting them.
