Introduction
摘要
The thesis here is that modern texts, i.e., texts in the interlingual licensing realm, increasingly include strategies of addressing in order to pluralize the work and direct it toward as many audiences as possible. The relationship between the structure of the work and the multilateral structure of its audience can be investigated on at least six different rhetorical levels (textual, spatial, medial, lingual, thematic, and generic levels). The multilateral address concerns the rhetorical evocations of the transnational community, which consist of processes of pluralization and opening up, as opposed to processes of homogenization and isolation. This thesis is tested on intertexts and paratexts (Chap. 2 ), the design of space (Chap. 3 ), dealing with multilingualism (Chap. 4 ), the staging of transmission and permissions (Chap. 5 ), universal themes (Chap. 6 ), and the genre of the global novel (Chap. 7 ).
