Türkiye’s strategic location along major sea routes and key ports has made it a center for maritime trade. However, the high volume of activity raises the risk of marine accidents and oil pollution in coastal waters. Prompt and effective response is crucial to reduce environmental impact. Oil spill management includes detection, classification, modelling, risk assessment, response/recovery, optimization, and waste handling. Efficient strategies are vital, as response methods significantly affect waste volume. Each method is assessed by recovery rate, oil type, sea state, energy use, cost, waste, and toxicity. Waste management covers storage, transport, incineration, separation, reuse, and treatment. This chapter evaluates response methods and waste management to propose strategies for oil spill contingency plans in Türkiye, supporting better environmental protection.

摘要
