In this chapter, we review the construction of sigma models for Wilson lines and surfaces and revisit the study of odd Wilson surfaces started in Chekeres and Salnikov (J Geometry Phys 203:105272, 2024). We propose a new definition of weird Lie superalgebras and argue that they give rise to odd Wilson surfaces. We then outline a path toward various generalizations of the geometric structure behind Wilson surfaces.

摘要

In this chapter, we review the construction of sigma models for Wilson lines and surfaces and revisit the study of odd Wilson surfaces started in Chekeres and Salnikov (J Geometry Phys 203:105272, 2024). We propose a new definition of weird Lie superalgebras and argue that they give rise to odd Wilson surfaces. We then outline a path toward various generalizations of the geometric structure behind Wilson surfaces.
