Telehealth in Denmark: A Historical, Regulatory, and Technological Perspective
摘要
This chapter explores and describes the historical, political, and technological developments that made the extensive use of telehealth possible in Denmark. The chapter comprehensively reviews literature, policies, and case studies. The analyses are based on scientific sources and white papers, such as police reports. Key telehealth technologies and their applications are examined through specific projects, such as PreCare and TeleCare North. The findings indicate that telehealth in Denmark has evolved significantly and is supported by robust technical infrastructure and progressive health policies. Projects like PreCare and TeleCare North demonstrate the potential of telehealth to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. However, the effectiveness varies across different patient groups and conditions. Integrating technologies like automated dose dispensing robots and patient-reported outcomes have enhanced patient-centered care and continuous health monitoring. Telehealth in Denmark has shown promise in enhancing healthcare delivery, particularly regarding accessibility and patient empowerment. Still, there are challenges related to patient acceptance, digital literacy, and the digital divide. Future efforts should focus on addressing these challenges.
