The Foundation Programme in Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is designed to ignite student creativity and innovation. Through hands-on activities and real-world projects, students develop essential skills and mindsets, such as empathy and human-centred design practices. This 9-week course is open to registered students at any South African institution of higher learning, final-year undergraduates, recent graduates, and postgraduates aged between 18 and 35 years. Upon completion, students receive a certificate from Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika at UCT, acknowledging their proficiency in the design-led thinking approach and their ability to innovatively address complex problems in a co-creative manner with creativity and purpose. The students leave with the knowledge and confidence that they can achieve what they set out to do and create change in the world around them.
