Virginia Commonwealth University da Vinci Center for Innovation: Prototyping the Future of Higher Education
摘要
The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) da Vinci Center for Innovation is prototyping the future of higher education through interdisciplinary academic, experiential, and experimental learning opportunities. Founded in 2007 as a cross-disciplinary center for innovation and creativity, the Center offers undergraduate certificates in product innovation, venture creation, and human-centered design as well as a Master’s of Product Innovation and graduate certificate in healthcare innovation. Microcredentials are used by the Center to document co-curricular student learning and experiences. The Center provides university-wide experiential education opportunities through Shift Labs—a collection of interdisciplinary ideation and innovation spaces. Shift Labs was recognized by Fast Company as the winner of the 2023 Innovation by Design awards in the learning category. Consistent with its namesake, the Center runs experiments to advance creativity and innovation across the university including the adoption of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® and public private partnerships with emerging educational technology companies.
