The present research aims first to identify and then analyze the dominant strategies and narrative patterns in the Italian press dedicated to the sadly frequent phenomena of femicide and gender-based violence nationwide utilizing purpose-built NooJ syntactic grammars. The study was conducted by drawing on a dataset comprising 120 articles categorized under the tag femminicidio (femicide) and published in the year 2023 by three relevant newspapers, namely Il Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, and Il Sole 24 Ore, which were chosen as exemplars for the statistical survey due to their wide national circulation, making them representative of the media landscape. Based on the results, the work aims to highlight the points where a radical change in narrative methods would be needed to make the world of information as transparent, objective, and respectful as possible. Considering the urgency of the associated societal issues and the constantly evolving methods and platforms of communication, such research holds the potential to offer a concrete and solution-oriented outlook through an enhanced understanding of the commonly adopted narratives throughout the Italian press.
