The Valtellina region is facing serious challenges of economic degrowth and population decline. We explore how the global trend of remote work, which has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, can be used as a catalyst for economic revitalization in this area. This project proposes a regional plan to revitalize Valtellina’s local economies and develop tourism through remote work. This is centered on a city-town-village development strategy, a place-based framework that proposes physical, digital, and policy interventions for the various scales of towns in the region. The key principles of our strategy are to (1) develop a “Remote Work Valley”, (2) build a new knowledge economy, and (3) further strengthen sustainable tourism in the region.

摘要
