Background The primary objective of this review is to examine the effects of BoNT on the functional outcomes of patients suffering from upper limb tremors. The secondary objective was to suggest a suitable method to administer Botulinum Toxin Injection in tremor patients among various methodologies followed across the literature. Methods Articles published between 1996 and 2023 were searched in CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature), PubMed, Embase, Medline and Cochrane databases. There were 1240 distinct articles found after a thorough search. Based on the title, 200 results from the search were included. 189 papers were eliminated after the abstracts were reviewed. The remaining 11 articles were classified based on the treatment methodologies carried out for hand tremors. The shortlisted articles were categorized into 6 types based on the BoNT treatment Outcomes for Hand Tremors. Results The findings of the study show that BoNT significantly improves upper limb tremors and helps with ADL, QoL, GS and functional movement. Besides, utilization of various doses of BoNT such as 50 U and 100 U may end up with hand weakness as a side effect. Conclusions The study found that based on fewer side effects, BoNT significantly improves upper limb tremors and it could be minimized by BoNT therapy coupled with kinematic guidance. This showed that kinematically guided BoNT therapy could lessen the side effects compared to BoNT therapy alone.
