People all over the world are getting more concerned about the issue of climate change and this has led to the call on different organizations, including banking organizations to take an active part in sustainable business. This transition is imperative at a time when the environment is becoming sensitive with increased demands on financial technology coupled with the increase in delivery of banking services. It is therefore clear that going green is very important in banking. This presents a problem and at the same time a possibility for financial institutions to inform their clients on the advantages of green banking and to integrate green banking to the services they offer their clients through the use of technology. Therefore, this literature review which focuses on the current level of customer awareness of green banking practices in digital transition will seek to understand the above issues. After analyzing prior research, the paper will reveal how innovation in banking structures including mobile applications, online banking, and digital marketing have impacted the customer’s perception and awareness of sustainable financial products and services.
