The Role of Governance Mechanisms in Improving the Financial Performance of Insurance Companies
摘要
This study investigates the role of governance mechanisms in enhancing the financial performance of insurance companies in Palestine. To achieve the study's objectives, a descriptive approach was employed, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The study was conducted on a random sample of 45 employees, both male and female, from companies within the insurance sector. A total of 45 questionnaires were distributed, collected, and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings indicate that the Board of Directors is a crucial governance mechanism significantly impacting the financial performance of insurance companies in Palestine by fostering transparency and setting clear company goals and strategies. Additionally, risk management was found to be highly effective in improving financial performance through employees’ adherence to submitting regular risk management reports to relevant stakeholders. The study also highlights the pivotal role of internal audit in enhancing financial performance by implementing a risk-based audit plan, assessing the adequacy of company systems, and ensuring employee compliance with controls.
