The aim of the contribution (case study) is a proposal for the development of financial and economic literacy among students of a selected secondary vocational school or grammar school. It can be a high school with an economic focus, whose students have mastered microeconomic and macroeconomic knowledge at the appropriate level (e.g. business academy) or also a school which students will be introduced to the issue of financial and economic literacy, mainly through lessons exclusively focused on the given issue (grammar school, high vocational school). The theoretical part of the contribution is focused on the importance of education in the field of financial and economic literacy and on national strategies in the field of this education. A specific proposal for the development of financial and economic literacy is developed on the example of the successful Czechoslovak entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa called RAGS TO RICHES—the story of a world-famous Czechoslovak entrepreneur. The proposal contains the motivation of students, the choice of organizational form of teaching, the objectives of teaching according to Bloom’s taxonomy (cognitive, affective, psychomotor, educational), the selection of suitable teaching methods and teaching tools, the timetable, the analysis of teaching hours and its all-round significance for the future business or employment practice of students, as well as for their family budget or building positive character traits, such as persistence. Discussion contains conclusions, comparison with some previous studies, benefits for theory and practice, limitations of research and practical application and future research directions.
