Modern universities follow the global development of science, technology, art and culture in connection with society. Developing education and preparing students for employment in the labour market, they thus contribute to the development of the entire society, but this is not enough nowadays. Universities are expected to do more. They are expected to benefit the society in which they exist. The paper’s main aim is to highlight the importance of the concept of university social responsibility (USR). It is divided into an introduction, material and methods, results, and discussion. The first part provides input to the topic, including the theoretical background, which consists of definitions of related terms such as CSR and USR. The second part describes the paper’s aim and the methods used. The third part analyses the case studies from the field of USR. The last part summarises the results and discusses limitations and future research.
