IEEE 802 and ITU-T Optical Wireless Standards
摘要
Standardization is essential for enabling seamless communication between network devices, particularly in environments with multiple vendors. While previous chapters explored multiple-access technologies and multiuser diversity techniques, this chapter delves into the development and key features of various wired and wireless communication standards. It examines the roles of major standardization bodies, including the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with respect to optical wireless communication. Additionally, it discusses the IEEE 802 series, which defines communication protocols across different network types, particularly in the physical and data link layers for Ethernet and wireless technologies. This chapter offers a comprehensive analysis of these standards and their significance in modern optical and wireless access networks.
