Facial nerve IONM in parotid surgery is increasingly recognized as a tool for reducing the occurrence and severity of facial nerve paralysis and plays a significant role in current medical litigation cases. The lack of high-level scientific evidence limits the creation of worldwide recognized guidelines and surgical training programs in facial nerve IONM.
