The chapter explores successful and established practices as well as potential use cases for remote technology in healthcare, in a spectrum of high-, low- and middle-income countries with a range of healthcare challenges. Remote consultation in high-income countries addresses challenges and opportunities to explore the roles of government and private sector in providing cost-effective and safe quality care to the ageing population. Successful practices are showcased with their whys and hows. Remote consultation in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) gives an overview of the enablers and the barriers faced by the socioeconomic and geographical terrain, as well as the contrasting realities of urban and rural healthcare in terms of utilisation and potential of emerging remote healthcare technologies. Examples are provided of emerging practices with promising outputs. Examples of up-and-coming technologies and their use cases are proposed.
