As the COVID-19 pandemic has propelled telemedicine adoption, dermatology has benefited from the ability to remotely assess visible skin conditions. However, remote dermatological consultations present challenges, primarily around the features of patient-submitted images. High-quality photos are critical for accurate diagnosis, yet patients often struggle to capture sufficient detail. The chapter reviews teledermatology’s advantages, such as accessibility and patient satisfaction, alongside the limitations and best practices, including guiding patients on photo quality and using AI tools for enhanced image submission. Various dermatological scenarios, including rashes, allergic reactions, viral infections, and malignancies, are examined with recommendations for remote assessment. Red flags indicating the need for in-person evaluation are highlighted, ensuring patient safety. While telemedicine is not a substitute for hands-on examinations, its potential to improve access and timely intervention makes it a valuable tool in dermatological care.
