Opportunities and Perspectives of the Implementation of Smart Energy Transition by 2050

Before 25 years ago, political organizations were encouraging citizens to exploit and use inexhaustible renewable resources to reduce the degree of global warming, where the average annual temperature did not exceed 1.1 °C. With the organization of international United Nations conferences on climate changeClimate change and the rise in the earth’s surface temperature, as well as a succession of natural disasters, awareness of clean electricity consumption and the development of green technologies is beginning to grow. The most notable measure taken during the twenty-first century to mitigate climate change is the Paris Agreement, which was signed at COP’21 on December 12, 2015 and implemented on November 4, 2016. Currently, the climate change issue aims to achieve decarbonization and sustainabilitySustainability. On the other hand, with this global wave of digital transformationDigital transformation, the objective is no longer only to achieve decarbonization, but also to provide energy comfort while implementing smart energy by 2050. This chapter analyzes some presented opportunities for implementing the energy transition and proposes some perspectives for realizing a smart energy by 2050. The approach of this chapter is to apply the smart energy perspective to the proposed opportunities for achieving a smart energy transitionSmart energy transition by 2050 to simultaneously satisfy energy demand, protect the environment and achieve a smart energy. At last, this chapter motivates researchers and energy experts, as well as political organizations, to direct their compasses toward investing their research in the introduction of new perspectives for achieving smart energy, and also to launch strategies and policies that will organize the realization of this smart energy along the future 25 years.
