The Veterans Health Administration (VA) is the largest integrated health care system in the U.S. and provides care to approximately 10 million veterans. Many vets complain of chronic physical or mental health conditions after service or deployment that can cause testosterone (T) deficiency. Low T is a predictor of poor health and mortality in male vets. In addition, T deficiency can aggravate comorbid conditions if they preexist. In this chapter, I discuss the causes of T deficiency in males active-duty service members and vets. I also analyze the multiple biological effects of T therapy that produce additive benefits and decrease chronic disease and mortality in male vets with low T.

摘要
