Mechanisms and Countermeasures for Delayed Fracture

Delayed fracture is a problem that must be taken into account when using high-strength bolts with a tensile strength of 1.2 GPa or more. This delayed fracture occurs after a static tensile load or bending load is applied for a certain period of time at room temperature, without any apparent plastic deformation, a crack initiates from the bottom of the notch and gradually propagates, eventually resulting in an unstable fracture.
