Generally, the bolted joints in a mechanical structure are designed so that the axial direction of the bolt is fit to the direction of the external force. Therefore, mechanical analysis of bolted joints is often performed for the axial load of the bolts. However, in the case of structure with multiple bolted joints, each bolt is subject to the eccentric force or bending load, even if the load on the structure is directed toward the bolt axial direction as shown in Fig. 3.1.
