This study investigates the career aspirations and concerns of second-year computer science students interested in web and mobile development. A survey questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected group of students enrolled in a web development course. The findings reveal that financial aspects are a major concern for students, with job availability and salary expectations heavily influencing their career choices. This financial focus represents a change compared to previous years, possibly linked to recent economic trends. Although technical challenges such as keeping up with evolving technologies remain a concern, interestingly, the reported prevalence of psychological challenges have not changed. The study also explores the perceived value of a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Students acknowledge the benefits of structured learning offered by universities, but believe that online resources are sufficient for entry-level positions. Overall, the findings suggest a growing emphasis on financial considerations and a potential decline in the perceived necessity of a traditional university education in the minds of aspiring web and mobile developers.
