Immediate Rescue and Emergency Measures Project, 2000–2001
摘要
Under the 1-year Immediate Rescue Emergency Measures Project (IREM), six activities were implemented to conserve the Kihansi Spray Toad and its habitat: (1) an expansion of the pilot spray irrigation systems to the Upper, Lower, and Mid-Gorge Spray Wetlands; (2) construction of walkways, bridges, and ladders in the Kihansi Gorge; (3) an assessment of the effectiveness of short-term intermittent flow releases in maintaining the spray wetlands; (4) ecological studies of the Kihansi Spray Toad and its food and habitat; (5) an expanded search for potential translocation sites for the Kihansi Spray Toad outside of the Kihansi Gorge; and (6) development of a Kihansi area conservation plan.
