This chapter presents RESM theoretical principles and practice skills related to community level social work practice. Narrative interviews reveal the interplay of multiple systems factors, providing an understanding of the interface of family and community racial/ethnic socialization processes and resiliency. The practice skills are used across the four phases of social work practice: engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation, with practice examples focusing on historical discriminatory stress, its possible lingering intergenerational effects, and how social workers can help people maintain resilient social functioning.
