Aircraft are the largest means of coordinated transportation around the world. They transport people and goods within a country and across regions. People rely on this mode of transportation due to its distinct features such as time saving, comfort and reliability. Therefore, reliable aircraft and services are essential to ensure the smooth operation of air travel. Every timely and successful flight operation is the result of a collective and coordinated effort. The factors which affect reliable operations are categorized into maintenance, human factors, weather conditions and cost of operations. The reliability of the components and processes is also one of the major aspects that could affect the availability of the aircraft. This work sheds light on how selected reliability factors impact aviation operations. The continuous cycling of these operations makes it possible for the aircraft operators to maintain scheduled flight times. These factors cause latent and direct adverse effects for the airline operators. This chapter presents solutions to improve and assist the reliability of the aircraft.
