Advanced Air Mobility: Regulatory Trends, Societal Implications and Relations with Manned Air Transport
摘要
New technologies to improve transportation systems within, around and between urban areas are rapidly emerging. Among such new technologies is the integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into urban contexts, for operations, such as carriage of cargo, medical equipment delivery and, ultimately, passenger transportation. The idea of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) represents a concept that somehow stays in between traditional transportation and mobility solutions by providing alternative means of transportation through more efficient and sustainable aerial vehicles. AAM also provides smarter, safer and more sustainable mobility solutions in urban environments, aspiring to complement other methods of mobility, such as public transportation, e-hailing or e-scooters. It is necessary to align the new infrastructures (for example, vertiports) with the existing operational features. This chapter explores whether drone passenger operation existing and future AAM solutions fit into the existing legal framework, and what impact there will be with respect to safety and privacy matters.
