Blockchain Powered Sustainability: A Qualitative Research Agenda
摘要
Blockchain as technology intends to provide significant sustainable solutions to influence human, social, economic, and environmental factors. The research proposes mapping sustainability theories-based themes areas to understand the current usage of blockchain technologies (based on characteristics) to drive sustainability. The paper aims to investigate the role of blockchain technology in propelling sustainable ecosystems using the proposed blockchain-led sustainability framework. A systematic review of blockchain sustainability studies is discussed using the Theory, Context, Characteristics and Methodology (TCCM) approach. 19 global expert interviews were conducted with relevant blockchain sustainability practitioners and user personas from industry and research. MAXQDA qualitative data analysis software has been used to analyse the interviews and opinions data thematically. Research findings can help managers envisage sustainable organisations to instrument and balance human rights, consensus, moral reasoning, and societal boundary contexts. The research proposes the role of sustainable digital practices in exercising novel methods, codes of conduct, policies, standards, compliance, law, and regulation requirements using blockchain technologies.
