The Trusted Platform Module is an established technology and has been integrated into and deployed more and more with common mass-market PC platforms and laptops for over two decades. Especially in the last 5 years interest in the TPM is rising again, due to the requirement of Windows 11 that PCs integrate a TPM version 2. Few applications use a TPM so far, but if one wants to do so, the question arises, what kind of TPMs, proper software support and specific features are currently available. This paper explores the current state of support for TPMs of the v2 generation. First, a reflection on what software support is available (in C and other languages) and their development state. Then, a closer examination of TPMs in PC-class hardware available to us, with a reflection on the differences and distinctions found. Overall, this peek into the ecosystem of TPM v2 is only a limited review, but already the insights presented in this paper make the technological transition to TPM use more accessible—as TPMs will most likely be in every computer in the near future.

摘要
