Development of a Prototype for Bilirubin Level Screening: Design and Image Analysis Approach

This article outlines the innovative development of a prototype designed for non-invasive bilirubin level screening, addressing the increasing need for accessible and efficient methods of early detection for liver-related conditions. With the use of low-cost cameras and image analysis techniques, the presented prototype could offer a user-friendly and portable solution for routine bilirubin monitoring. The device includes an ergonomic design, ensuring practicality and ease of use. Also, the use of electronic components such as ESP32-CAMS for image capturing. The image analysis, demonstrate the differences in the indexes of the RGB channels of the images between participants with some health condition and the healthy participants. Comparative analyses against traditional diagnostic methods underscore the prototype's efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The promising results highlight its potential significance in early identification and monitoring of liver-related disorders in adults. Further research and clinical validation are essential to establish the prototype's efficacy, paving the way for its integration into routine healthcare practices and contributing to improved patient outcomes. It is worth noting that the results presented in this paper are only a pilot test of the device, and do not indicate bilirubin measurements.
