Hip fractures in pediatric patients are of low incidence, corresponding to less than 1% of the total in this age. Unlike the majority of fractures presenting in pediatric age, which usually have a favorable prognosis, this injury is associated with high rates of complications and a reserved prognosis. This is due to both the severity of the injuries associated by the injury mechanism, as well as the direct result of the hip fracture. A suitable management is essential to avoid its potential complications, among which we can mention avascular necrosis, coxa vara, non-union, premature physeal closure, and lower extremity length difference.
