Fractures of the epitrochlea account for 11–20% of all bone injuries in the elbow in the pediatric population. These fractures occur most frequently between the ages of 9 and 14 years old and are four times more common in boys than in girls. Approximately 50% of cases are associated with elbow dislocation, with incarceration of the fragment being less frequent, between 5 and 18% of cases. The association with ulnar nerve dysfunction has been reported in 10–16% of children with these fractures. These injuries are increasingly common in the pediatric population, especially those involved in high-performance sports activities from a very early age.
