An important direction of implementation of bioprocesses in environmental protection is realized in environmental biotechnologies. In particular, they relate to the introduction of technologies of waste bioprocessing, restoration of fertility of polluted soils, purification of water bodies, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The development of biotechnology is important for the establishment of sustainable development goals.
