It is hard to imagine a stand-alone spin-based computing device (SBC), or any exotic computing device, that is not a component or subsystem of an electrical computing system. Any practically useful spin-based computing device has to have interfaces between electric and magnetic components, magnetoelectric interfaces (MEIs). The energy efficiency of transducers between the electrical and magnetic domains is often poor, hindering applications. This chapter gives a high-level overview of the different types of MEIs and the SBCs they enable.
