We give a high-level overview of technologies for fabricating magnetic materials on the nanoscale and their characterization methods. This is a short book chapter, with the sole intention of demonstrating to the reader what type of magnetic nanostructures are feasible to fabricate and measure with state-of-the-art technologies. The chapter is just skimming material that would fill many volumes in an in-depth review. It will touch on deposition and patterning technologies as well as characterization technologies that are typically available in a university laboratory environment.
