Energy security is necessary for a consistent and sustainable energy supply, but efforts to achieve it, such as raising the output and efficiency of clean fuels, have not been equitable. In this scenario, widening disparities in wealth have indirectly exacerbated energy poverty, posing a barrier to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7. Does this mean that we must halt initiatives aimed at achieving energy security? An often-overlooked fact states that energy security does not always correlate to energy poverty. From an alternate angle, environmentalists are paying more attention to energy security as a pathway to boost economic growth through increased manufacturing, business development, and global competitiveness. Hence, this chapter aims to examine the role of artificial intelligence as a potential solution to enhance energy security and poverty alleviation in developing countries. Using a conceptual, this chapter reveals that AI does play a role in promoting the level of energy security and in alleviating poverty. Thus, the impact of poverty on energy security may diminish as a country's deployment and exploration of AI increases.
