Privacy, Security, Ethics in AI-Driven Energy System
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology application in energy systems has presented a shift to increased efficiency and a more resilient energy system. AI is potentially a disruptive technology in almost all energy-related spheres: from predictive maintenance to the management of smart grids, from demand forecasting to the transition to renewable energy. While these AI applications progress, they touch on significant concerns that come up at scale, especially around the privacy of data, security, ethical issues, and compliance with legal requirements. These concerns are discussed in this chapter while presenting privacy-preserving technologies, a relationship between AI and infrastructure security, and ethical requirements for proper and transparent energy distribution. It also discusses growth areas in AI, such as reinforcement learning, digital twin, and quantum computing which can take sustainable energy solutions to the next level. Last but not least, the chapter uses an economic perspective to analyze the role of AI in energy sustainability in terms of costs and benefits, the shift of human resources, and the general value of the integration of renewables. This review of the extensive literature evidence underscores how properly managed AI can help support a sustainable, secure, and equitable energy future in the face of the opportunities and risks associated with technological change in the energy system.
